🎣 CATFISH AWARENESS DAY 🎣
Other things you can do:
✅ do a reverse image search online of the photos the person is using, so you’ll then see if those photos are being used only by them, or if they’re also elsewhere on the internet - like a model’s social media where they’ve been stolen from!
✅ Watch the MTV series ‘Catfish the TV show’ - they have a YouTube channel too.
✅ watch the original documentary ‘Catfish’ which spawned the tv show. I think it might be on Netflix or Prime. The creator Neve was catfished by an older woman for a long time who was using someone else’s photos. He fell in love with her, but felt something was fishy, so investigated, and filmed the whole thing. It’s really eye opening.
✅ watch for fake profiles using actual real links of mine on their profiles- such as to my slink (where all my links are as on my Twitter) in order to look more genuine. They often mirror the entire profile, using the exact same photos to look like the same thing. Like a fake bag in a way!
✅ watch the wording - these criminals are often foreign and it can stand out in how they write things.
✅ they often use usernames which are very very similar to my real one, bar a letter or a number.
✅ if they don’t have many followers, it’s probably because they’re fake!
⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ PLEASE PLEASE REPORT ALL FAKE ACCOUNTS YOU SEE OF ME! Especially on IG and other sites where I don’t have accounts, as I can’t do this myself. I can only report accounts on Twitter.
Thanks guys!
