Block chain talk going up tomorrow!
Quick overview. I'll be dressed in this... And I'll be explaining and drawing it out in a whiteboard.
The most commonly known use of blockchain technology is Bitcoin, which is used as a currency. It can used for many things though and blockchain is not a currency, just the tech one particularly well known currency is created out of.
Blockchain is NOT a programming language, it is a technology of "blocks" of data "chained" together with a very secure way of encryption. The data can be anything of value, like a currency (Bitcoin) or storing a college degree from MIT (they do this) and is virtually incorruptible due to the encryption. It uses a network of peers to distribute this all over negating the need for a trusted this party (such as a bank). There's different kinds of blockchain chain implementations about there and I'll cover a couple.
It has basically 5 main parts:
Cryptographic Hash
Immutable Ledger
P2P Network
Consensus Protocol
Block Validation or βMiningβ
I'll be going over those more in the video. I wish live would work! Ug! I'll try that first and if not then video it is.
