Workout tip of the week Pre-exhaust We talked about compound vs isolation exercises last week. Pre-exhaust exploits the fact that sometime your supporting muscles give way first, so you may want to work your main muscles a bit first so the main and supporting muscles in a compound movement get to (just before) failure at similar times. A pre-exhaust involve doing an isolation exercise on the main muscle before the compound exercise. For example, you may perform cable chest flies before dumbbell bench press. It is particularly effective if you also superset the exercises. If you want a great pump, do a superset with pre-exhaust.
