Ok so I promise I’m still on track with getting myself more organized and consistent with my DMs on here. I’m determined BUT I do want to give you a personal update as well. My grandmother in Holland passed this morning. I had a difficult afternoon when I received the news from my dad. It’s been a long time coming, she’s been ill for a while and she was in her 90’s. I think I’m going to be ok as far as rebounding from this and keeping content rolling out. I went for a run and had a good cry while running earlier, I’ve had a few other bouts of tears as well but honestly, I’m some ways it’s a relief. She’s been suffering for what feels like do long now and I feel like I’ve been metaphorically waiting for the other shoe to drop for at least a year. I have no idea what funeral or memorial services might be ahead but I will likely be staying here in the states regardless. I don’t feel like it’s safe for me to travel internationally at this time and honestly, I’ve never really understood the importance of dropping everything for a funeral. I say that as an inexperienced funeral goer though. I guess what I'm saying is that attending her funeral does nothing to bring her back. I would love to see my family but the timing feels too risky. She is the person in my family I am the most alike. We actually use to clash a lot when I was younger but looking back I think it’s because we were so similar. She was tall, actually an inch taller than me and she was beautiful. She had this contagious smile and she was playful. She always looked a bit like she was up to something. She was also sooooo stubborn and opinionated. I’m seeing that more in myself as I get older 😂 She met my grandfather at a nightclub in the 1950’s. She was sitting on top of a piano being played live and she was singing (she was not hired to be there, just a woman having a great time). My grandfather was absolutely smitten with her. That might be my favorite story about her. She defiantly had a booty, I’m certain I got it from her 🍑 anyway, thank you for listening.
