Today you get me all natural, raw and full of beautiful imperfections. Isn’t that special though? Because of this platform, I often think about how I’ve physically aged in my still you.ng life and how I will continue to do so. Our culture as humans promotes youth and tight perfection which I can’t deny is appealing… but youth is kind of like a new book cover. Aren’t the best books dog eared and a little bit crackled from being loved so much? Isn’t there beauty in a cover with a story, one that’s lived an interesting and complex life and is still doing so?
I catch myself judging my imperfections and lusting after my 21 year old body but then I remember that the pages on this site that I enjoy subscribing to the most don’t feature bodies like that. My favorites are the ones where the woman has a few rolls or subtle crows feet around her eyes when she smiles. There’s something real and intriguing to about “her.”
My birthday is in 5 days so aging is on my mind. I’ve done a lot in the past decade. I honestly feel like I’ve lived at least 5 different lives in that time. I’ve lived passionately and soared to unbelievable highs and dipped deep into lows and you know what, I’m here now. The evidence of those years lived is written on my skin and in my heart. I love it and I hate it but it just IS.
