Hey! today I came to you with an interest in the history and origin of a single word.
It's about the word fishnet. (we are talking about mesh clothes, tights, etc.)
Have you ever wondered why the "fish" net? After all, it would be much easier and more convenient to call garments made of mesh material "net".
I found an interesting story that is mentioned on many sites dedicated to the origin of this word.
The Peasant's Wise Daughter by the Brothers Grimm
This story is about how the wise daughter of a poor man solved the riddle of the king and came to the king in a fish net.
However, I doubt that the reason for the origin of the modern name of mesh products comes from this story.
