🕑 Added 2023-03-26 10:46:01 +0000 UTC Car update: (it’s long) I was quoted $700 for pads and rotors to be changed so declined with the intention of doing myself with the help of my roommate. Front passenger rotor screws are stripped to Hell and back. Rotor itself is still really smooth, just rusted so we put new brake pads on like “nbd, I can get it in to a shop later but this fix will buy me the time I need to continue working and save up money.” We get to the front driver side rotor and have to fight with the bolts which are cross threaded from either poor maintenance previous to my ownership orrrrrrr speculation towards the shop I took it to being short staffed and rushed. Either way, snapped one of the bolts off completely because of how wrecked it was… So now, not only will this not be a quick little DIY rotor and brake pad replacement but my car now needs a whole wheel assembly repaired. This has been one of the worst weeks of my life.
