🕑 Added 2022-11-03 13:00:14 +0000 UTC Never forget that the way people treat you is based on how they feel about THEMSELVES. So when people are shitty, don't take it personally but also don't continue to be a doormat for them. I know it can be difficult because I was a doormat for my bosses for most of my career. I put a stop to it when I finally woke up to the fact that I could speak up for myself and not get fired. Sometimes I just had to shut down assholes when they were mean, without fearing losing my job. Of course family is another thing. People think they need to put up with all kinds of bullshit because these jerks are related to us. I put a stop to that a long time ago when my mom's two sisters were so out of line and so verbally and emotionally abusive (just as my mom was) that I sent them a Dear John letter, cutting them out of my life, and I've never ever regretted it. Please just do what you can to protect yourself because you will be so much better off without incessant negativity in your life. Regardless, I always did my best to be supportive to the people in my life. #benice xo
