Before he could scream, he was shoved into a black van, the door slamming shut as tires screeched. He awoke, disoriented, in a dimly lit room. His wrists were bound behind him, the rope biting into his skin. The air smelled faintly of mildew. His eyes darted around—bare walls, a single flickering bulb, and a man stepping from the shadows. The captor’s face was half-hidden in the dim light, but his smile was cold.
